Finished Pieces of Work

Wendy has finished her vase in the flat but is not sure if she will turn it into a vase or possibly a book cover.

The fronds have been printed and green "hairy" wool applied to give the lovely texture of ferns across the middle.

The silver gives a lovely sheen that catches the light.

Whatever she decides to do it will look beautiful with the texture, embroidery and colours.

Thank you Wendy, we are waiting to see what you will do with it.

Christina has finished  her delicate 3D pale green and blue vase. She has added interest with hand embroidery  and added a pop of colour  with orange beads.

She has made the join a feature and curved the top for interest.

It is a lovely vase to look at and a big thank you goes to Christina for sharing it with us.

Members Work Day - November Meeting 2024

This month we were able to bring embroideries to finish, new projects we had started, sampling for new ideas and anything else we were working on.

The room was filled with a whole array of design, crafts and embroidery with members chatting in between concentrating on their work which can be viewed below.

A range of embroidery techniques.

Felt Work

Wool Work

Voting was carried out for the Chair's Challenge of embroidered items to fit in a box and the winner was Christina whose work had been selected from a whole range of entries.

Congratulations to Christina on her beautiful entry and she was presented with the glass bell to hold for one year.

It was an enjoyable day and members were able to chat to each other about what they were working on and get more ideas for their own work.

Craft fair Lower Holker Village Hall Saturday 26th September 2024

Yesterday we had a stall at the Craft Fair at Holker Hall. It was a lovely sunny Autumn day and the hall looked very pretty, with all the stalls decorated with sparkly colourful things and Christmas colours in abundance.

Our stall looked lovely thanks to the members who set it up and the members who had made things to sell to boost our finances.

There was a steady footfall and we hope everyone did well.

Thanks to our members who made items to sell, helped set up and pack away and anyone who came to buy. Thanks to Janet for photo.

Finished pieces of work

Mary has just finished this beautiful  baby playmat for one of her granddaughter's bridesmaids. This is the third she has made and puts us all to shame for the amount of work she gets through.
The patchwork is "Flying Geese" made up of triangles and the birds are geese to match the patchwork.
Any baby who is lucky enough to play on this mat will have a wonderful time following the triangles and trying to undo the bows on the necks of the geese.
Thank you Mary for sharing the playmat with us.

Mary has also finished her3D vase in a lovely cooling green with leaves twisting around the vase as if blown by the wind.

The photo above shows the join where Mary has carefully matched up the leaves and stalks.
Mary said she made her vase over a biscuit tin so she was able to use a hot iron to join the two ends. A very good idea because I melted the plastic underneath mine slightly!
Thank you Mary for a delightful atmospheric vase.

Sandra has just finished her 3D vase and the colours she has used make you think of Autumn.
The background was sponge printed with orange, yellow and green.
Herringbone stitch was used to blend the background together and grass, cow parsley and thistle seed heads were embroidered by hand.

Along the bottom small toadstools were embroidered and attached with rosehips embroidered across the top.

The join was made a feature, by cutting along the top and join in a curvy line,  to follow the rose stalks.
Thank you Sandra, the beautiful colours are just what we have been seeing over the past few days.
