This is the blog of South Lakeland Stitchers. We are a new stitching group formed from North Lonsdale branch E.G. and Kendal branch E.G. plus new members from the locality. We enjoy stitching in all its forms and meet together once a month to share our hobby. We range from members who are learning to stitch to experienced stitchers and there is a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share with beginners.

Postcards with a Message
Bev has just finished the message on her postcard which most people will agree with.
Thank you Bev for a good message.
Janet is still debating what kind of border to use on her postcard. However the postcard looks very pretty with a heartfelt message without a border.
Thank you Janet.
Shelagh has finished her postcard which was made with Harris tweed scraps brought back from a holiday in the Outer Hebrides last summer. The colours and textures are wonderful.
Shelagh gives thanks to Fran and Anita for helping to bring back happy memories of a great holiday.
Thanks Shelagh.
Sandra has finished her postcard and has had great fun finishing it off with leaves and beads.
Thank you Sandra.
Joanna finished hers at the meeting and she was well pleased with it.
Thanks Joanna

Textile Postcards with Message - Fran Walker January Meeting 2022
Our January meeting started with everyone wishing each other a Happy New Year and then Fran introduced us to Postcards with a message including the delightful samples below made by her and Anita.
The sample postcards showed us that the ways of working were endless and the choice of technique was ours. Fran had brought a whole range of materials for us to borrow and try out something new.
Most members already had an idea of their message and began by writing/stitching or using applique to form their message.
Thought went into the backgrounds to either match the words or make them stand out.
By the end of the meeting one member had finished and most of the other members were near completion. The uncompleted postcards would be finished at home.
There was a wonderful arrangement of ideas and a big thank you goes to Fran for inspiring us and bringing a range of techniques for us to try.
Thank you Fran for an inspiring day and getting us back into the routine of stitching.
