This is the blog of South Lakeland Stitchers. We are a new stitching group formed from North Lonsdale branch E.G. and Kendal branch E.G. plus new members from the locality. We enjoy stitching in all its forms and meet together once a month to share our hobby. We range from members who are learning to stitch to experienced stitchers and there is a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share with beginners.

Finished Pieces
Alison has finished making her delightful bauble that she started at the November meeting. It is very charming with a mouse family decorating the tree for Christmas with all sorts of added details for the viewer to find.
Thank you Alison and what a pity you are unable to bring
it to the December meeting.
Joan has finished her felt piece that she started in October. She has constructed a felt pebble-like pattern and then machine stitched with hand stitched highlights.
The stitching has accentuated the pattern and provided texture so you feel you want to touch it.
The colours and textures are very beautiful.
Thank you Joan.

Hanging Baubles - Janet Tabarandak November Meeting 2022
Janet, one of our own members, arrived with armfuls of fabric, ribbons and a collection of beautifully embroidered baubles that she had already made to inspire us.
The designs ranged from baubles to robins and from Santas to Christmas trees.
Janet showed us that we could use a range of materials for applique and the choice of fabrics and stitching was up to us. Our members were brimming with ideas for their own bauble.
They chose their background fabrics, then the applique fabrics and threads. Within minutes patterns and pictures began to emerge,
More and more detail was added and the baubles began to look more and more Christmassy!
After a day of cutting and stitching, Christmas decorative baubles began to appear and Janet gathered us altogether to look at the wide range of creativity on display. Not one of the baubles was the same. Each small embroidery was individual and delightful in its own way.
Members took home their nearly completed bauble to finish at home by decorating the frame, adding a hanger and tidying up the back.
